Exemplary Club

Applications are now being accepted for 2025-2026 Exemplary Club. There are 11 criteria established for this award. Clubs need to meet at least 8 to qualify. Applications are due Dec. 1, 2026 and should be submitted by the 2025-2026 club president or secretary.

Achievement Award: Exemplary Club 2025-2026

This award is given by the district to honor those clubs that accomplish Kiwanis’ mission and are successful with strengthening membership and activities. A certificate of merit will be awarded to those clubs who meet the criteria. Applications are made by the clubs and should be submitted Oct. 1 through Dec. 1.

Please use official name of club as listed with Kiwanis International and not a community nickname.
Clubs need to meet at least 8 of the 11 criteria to qualify. (Clubs do not need to meet all 11 criteria to submit an application.)

1) Membership Growth

Did the club have a NET GROWTH in membership of two (2) or more members?
Net growth is a +2 members or more at the end of the Kiwanis year.

2) New Club & Service Leadership Program Building

Did the club sponsor or co-sponsor a new Kiwanis Club or SLP during the Kiwanis year?

3) Online Footprint & Awareness

Does your club have and maintain any of these:

4) Leadership Education

Kiwanis International asks that presidents, treasurers, secretaries and membership chairs attend Club Leadership Education prior to the start of their Oct. 1 term. Did at least 2 of these 2026-2027 officers attend CLE prior to Oct. 1 2026? (check all who attended)
BONUS: District Club Leadership Chats may also help to earn a club credit toward continuing education. (check if members attended any of these chats)

5) Youth Protection

Did the club provide Youth Protection training and a copy of the Youth Protection Guidelines to every member of the club during the first quarter of 2025-2026?
Was the annual training reported to Kiwanis International through the club's dashboard on Engage?

6) Local Community Service

Did the club conduct service projects for youth in the community?

7) Global Service

Did the club make a donation to the Kiwanis Children's Fund?
Did the club make a donation to the Nebraska-Iowa District Foundation?

8) Service Leadership Program

Did the club sponsor a SLP or SLP branded project?

9) District Service Project

Did the club do a service project focused on the current district service project – Youth Mental Health?

10) Club Compliance


Need to have at least 3 affirmative checkmarks to pass this criterion.

Check box for club compliance with the IRS (annual 990 filing) and the Secretary of State (biennial report filing)?
Was the club's 2026-2027 Officer report submitted to Kiwanis International by June?
Were the club's financial records examined, as required by bylaws.
