The Nebraska-Iowa District and the Nebraska-Iowa District Foundation are working together to make sure disaster relief is available when needed. A Disaster Relief Fund has been established.
Designated donations from clubs, individuals and organizations provide the dollars for this special fund.
The Nebraska-Iowa Disaster Relief Fund is for Kiwanis clubs interested in addressing the current needs of disaster victims. As a grant recipient the applying club must lead the project or relief effort and may not hand over funding to another agency, group or organization.
The types of activities eligible for funding are hands-on projects in which Kiwanians purchase and distribute basic necessities such as:
Safety and health needs: May include building supplies for interior/exterior walls which will return home to livable condition (such as dry wall, insulation, etc.)
Family and mental health care: May include items which encourage family time and improve mental health for all family members (such as board games, books, toys, bicycles, scooters, zoo passes, movie passes, gas cards)
Basic health care: May include health care items (such as food, clothing, cleaning supplies, toiletries)
Is your club ready for the 2025-2026 Kiwanis Year? Be sure your club officers are reported to Kiwanis International. Ask your club secretary today if your club is in compliance!
