Everyday Hero Criteria
“To honor a person in our district (Kiwanian or non‐Kiwanian) who has exemplified, in an unusual and/or exceptional way, service above and beyond the call of duty”
Any person qualifies that does an exceptional service to another person.
A nominee may be a Kiwanian or non‐Kiwanian, with no preference given to Kiwanians.
Nominations from each club are encouraged, and the club’s board must approve all nominations.
The Nebraska-Iowa Kiwanis District administrator must receive nominations by July 1 by email.
The District Awards Committee will review all nominations and select one recipient.
The award will be presented at District Convention.
The District shall reserve the right to decide each year as to whether the award will be presented.

“To recognize a Kiwanian who exemplifies the meaning of the first two Objects of Kiwanis International in their daily life.”
The first two Objects of Kiwanis International are: a. To give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than the material values of life. b. To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.
Clergy are ineligible for this award.
The Nebraska-Iowa District administrator must receive nomination by July 1.
The award is to be presented at the District Convention.
Each club in the District is encouraged to nominate one person.
One person from each Division shall be selected for the Divisional Lay Person Service Award. That person will be recognized and receive a certificate at the District Convention.
One of the Division winners shall be selected as the Nebraska-Iowa District Mark Holmer Lay Person Service Award winner and will be recognized at the district convention

The SLP club and sponsoring Kiwanis club must be in good standing with Kiwanis International.

The award is announced at District Convention, but presented by the sponsoring Kiwanis club to the SLP at a presentation after the school year begins.
The district’s Awards Committee, working in cooperation with administrators for KKids, Builders Club, Key Club, Circle K and Aktion Club, will review all nominations and select the recipient(s).
The selection committee shall reserve the right each year, based on the quality of the nominations received, as to whether the award will be presented.
