Trustees have the duties and responsibilities to:
Perform the duties as a member of the District Board.
Provide support to the Lieutenant Governors in their region.
Plan and preside at regional meetings, under the direction of the District Governor.
Assist the Governor with the governance of the District by a. Developing and approving budgets; b. Reviewing bylaws; c. Reviewing policy and making changes when necessary; d. Making recommendations on personnel issues; e. Developing a strategic plan in line with the strategic plan of Kiwanis International and monitoring progress; and f. Investing time to properly address District level issues.

Geri Derner, Kiwanis Club of Ames
Geri joined the Ames Kiwanis club 22 years ago when she aged out of Jaycees. She was looking for new opportunities for networking and community service.
She served as club secretary for many years and was also club president. Now, she is the editor for the club’s weekly bulletin. She served two terms as lt. governor (2017-2019, former Division 11) and enjoyed supporting the clubs in the division and helping them reach their goals.
In Geri’s words: “I look forward to the next chapter in my Kiwanis story. I appreciate the opportunity to support the district in a new capacity, while being involved with our many great Kiwanis clubs and members that make an impact on our world every day.”
